New Beginnings night!

This is the night reserved for introducing the "Beehive " group into the Young Womens program of the Church.
The lounge room looked wonderful, very colourful

Cupcakes with all the Y.W. colours.

Megan a councillor helped decorate

Vanessa and Megan are councillors in the Presidency. This picture doesn't do it justice, but under the tulle were fairy lights. The sign on
the board was done in fluro sticks and says: "Arise and Shine" the Y.W/s theme for the year.

Jasmin at the back, a real character.

Some of the girls chose not to be photographed. [ too old, for this kids stuff]

After all these years, I'm back in Young Women's [ as a parent] who would have believed it?

The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society.

Clare lent it to me...........LOVE IT!

Took a bit to get into [ had to read the first 20 pages again ] but haven't been able to
put it down.
Written as letters to various people.
Takes place just after the second world war.
Synopsis:
33 year old author, writing to people on the Guernsey island [ 33 miles off the
coast of France but is English territory.]
who had set up the above society. She is interested in writing a book, but becomes involved
with their lives.
Their experiences during the war .....Guerney was occupied by the Germans for 5 years.
Hundreds and hundreds of children were evacuated 2 days before they arrived.
The many hardships the people endured.
All food was sent to Germany to feed their troops, even the Germans on the Island were starving.
Trees cut down....freezing conditions.
The heroics of the people.
Although fiction, many of the scenarios would be true to life. A lovely read.
They will make a movie of it one day.
I do recommend it!

In honour of Tilly!

As I write this for Tilly, she will be taking her last swim at the beach in Dawesville.
She has cancer and will be put to sleep sometime today.

Princess Tilly, sweet natured, happy, always ready to greet you at the door.
We had the priviledge of looking after her for some weeks while Reg and Gayle were
on holidays in the East.

No matter who you were, there was always a scramble for the door, her little paws
could be heard scuttering on the floor boards from the other side, ready to say
"Greetings, do come in"

There is nothing like a dog for a companion, they are so faithfully. No matter what
your day, they will always greet you with love.

Reg and Gayle have been the most wonderful, caring of 'parents' to this little girl.
She will be missed by them and by us all.
She will always be behind that door.

Rest peacefully, darling Tilly!

Calender out of wack!

Seems my calender is not working. It'sTtuesday 14th Feb.
HELP REG!!!!!!

Happy Valentine day to all!

Every year without fail, Bob sends a card to all the girls in the family.

We really shouldn't need a special day to tell all the people in our

lives we love them. Old William put it right:

"They do not love that do not show their love.
The course of true love never did run smooth"

or this one:

"Love is not love which alters when alterations find."

This goes on a bit. Bob once had to recite it at a wedd ing he performed.
I rehearsed him all morning. phew, he made it through.
Sadly the marriage ended..........maybe it was the quote!!!!
LOVE YOU ALL!

The Isle of Wight and my little treasures!

Posted by PicasaIt started with Laura asking me about some of my 'tea cups"........I've got a story for everyone!
The plate above I found on the Isle of Wight about 10 years ago. My brother-in-law, Steve said:
"Watcha wonna an old plate for"[ in his lovely cockney accent] Iris replied: "Cause she likes it"
It is now a wonderful reminder !
2. The little teacup above it, I bought again on the IOW for 50p.......bargain!
3. The cup, saucer and plate belonged to my Aunty Flo who bought a set of them with her War Coupons.
4. The top one is my Great Grandmothers, the handle is so thin I'm fearful of breaking it, so it's kept in
a box.  It comes from Queen Marys time [there is no saucer] I'm sure it was her little 'treasure"-
    as they are mine...........Monday 13th Oct.2012

Yvonne La Aussie

It's Yvonnes birthday today..........I forgot!

Iam a shocker for remembering birthday. Yes, I put it on the calender, but

then forget to look at it.

Yvonne and I have worked together in the Enrichment Program for years now.

We seem to bounce ideas off each other and work well in the Relief Society program

that is to help the women in the Church to develop their skills. either craft, homemaking

or personal development.

Yvonne has inhereted her 'dutch' families DNA. She is supper energetic and leaves me

for 'dust' . She and her husband Stef run a 7 acre property with fruit trees [ which she

generously shares with anyone who needs fruit ] they have a horse Bella [belongs to son

Cameron] Stef has a car museum , he is a Renault enthusiast, 3 very rare cars.

We joined the Red hats together and also the Chorus.

Yvonne is one smart girl.

Runs a day care 4 days a week, she can save 80cents out of a dollar [ don't ask me how she

does it.....once in banking, she learn't a lot] Tall and elegant, she can wear anything and

still look like a model. Not the sort of girl that trumpets the 'quiet' good works she does.

Lady La Aussie is going to live a long life , her father is in his 90's and still swimming and

doing archery. Her Aunts in Holland are into the 100's......phew,

But Yvonne can work along side any man when it comes to the garden. She and Stef

have developed the most beautiful home and garden [ will have to put photo's on to

show the world ] She's up at 5.30am everymorning to do the garden before children

arrive at her absolutely beautiful day care centre, held in the down-stair area her

100 year old home. [ people have scrambled to get a place there]

Over the years we have gone to great lengths to create atmosphere for any activity

we have held. This coming activity is going to be on ITALY!

This picture was taken when we went to get props for our Ward Pirate Night.

So Happy Birthday dear friend. Hope it's a great year for you.

love Pam

Sonia McDougall - one year on!

Taken at Sonia's 21st Birthday, she's sitting on Bobs knee.

Betty, Sonia, Gloria and myself.

It will be one year tomorrow since she passed away ... Brain Tumour.

She changed the course of my life.

What a star she was, a vibrant little red head. School teacher, Air Hostess,

Missionary.

I first met her at a the Mt.Lawley Tennis Club dance, she was still in school,

I had left 2 years before her.

But you don't forget a personality like that. So when she turned up in Melbourne [ I was on a working holiday] and knocked on my door

I recognised her straight away..........The rest is history!

Michael Jordan

Saw this picture in Picarsa and thought I would just throw this one in!

Hard to believe that this great strapping lad, Michael Jordan, was one of our 'kids'

in Pre-Primary . Oh me, oh my where do the years fly!

Met Michael at a party held for a friend. He is still a gentle quiet boy.

I often come across 'my kids' either in shops behind counters, or in the Church

buildings. It's such a buzz when the young woman at the cash register asks: " were you my

pre-primary teacher?

Nice to know they remember you!

Guieseppe Armenti

Hard to believe this dear little man has reached his first milestone.

Now moving around like a little rocket, keeping his mother Yvette on her toes.

School Sri Lanka

Maizy and Liluth with Sofia and Will who are now in Sri Lanka with

their parents, Felicity and Darren. Felicity is home schooling, which should be

fun, having their mum teach them, and having experencing  the land their father was born in.

We took a walk along the walk trail to the "Old Swan View Station" which has been restored.

Bob and I can remember stopping at this platform [ very old fashion station then] on the

way to N.Z, back in the 60's. on the old steam train [ gosh are we that old?] It was about 1/12

hours journey from Perth back then .

I remember getting sandwiches and soup, from some ladies in the canteen.

We gave each other a kiss good night, then off to our 'segregated' carriages
......YES, WE WERE MARRIED!

It's part of the walk trail and people just picnic up here now. Over looks the city of Perth.

Sofia 'fishing' off the platform. Little love!

If Only!

Looks green and lush ah!
Wont for long, the Easterly's blew a gail last night, right across the scarpment.
I thought the roof would come off. [ bit like the mistrels in France]
It's this sort of weather that cause bush fires to go rampant.
We hold our breath in hope it doesn't happen. Because our lovely son-in-law . Kim, has to go out
and fight them. It's his birthday today, so we hope it's a happy one.

Maizy is 13

Boo Hoo, my little girls are teenagers!

Both girls are into Theatre Arts, love acting, singing, playing music.

Inhereted from both sides of the family!

Most importantly , they are just lovely girls.

This amazing cake was made by Grandma Rosie, Maizy's other grandmother.

Every year she turns up with something spectacular, 'but this takes the cake'

For some years it had to be a swimming pool, yes jelly for water even little babies,

a licquorice ladder, umbrellas at the side. I wonder what next year will bring?

The keyboard is made from white kit-kats, a music stool, and the music reads

Maizy's Mazooka!

Can you see the small vase on top of the piano!
