Julie had a taxi waiting for us at 5.30am. We crossed London Bridge right under Big Ben, took my breath away, a beautiful morning, hardly any traffic, considering it was London.
We're on the EuroStar for PARIS.
It took off like a bullet racing across the English country side. next thing we are in a tunnel, seemed about 15 minutes, then we were roaring toward Paris........WAS THAT IT?
I was expecting this long trip in a dark tunnel, passing beautiful farmland, villages, steepled churches and cream coloured building with pitched roofs [ a stark difference to the grey ones we had left on the other side of the Channel. Arriving about 10.30am. Julie headed us toward the bus stop where we bought tickets for the day. Thank goodness she was with us. What a STAR!
We are so gratful for our very personal travel consultant
Pictures will have to wait until we get home, also Paris story. OH TAKE MY BREATH AWAY...AGAIN!

TUES 13 SEPTEMBER - LEAVING MANCHESTER
Karen doing this one as the happy couple are now in Paris (Wed) and I know Pam will be having a wonderful time taking lots of photos to put on the blog as and when she can.
I took the photos below of them with Emily & Ken at Manchester Piccadilly Train Station as they were now going to London for the last 10 days of their holiday.
I've had a wonderful 3 1/2 weeks with Pam & Bob showing them around Manchester and of course not forgetting the Highlands of Scotland, which was also my first time as well.
When I got back from the station yesterday, my home seemed very empty and quiet and must admit did miss having them around.
Above photo of Pam & Bob with Emily (1st cousin to Bob) and her husband Ken.
Above photo of Emily (my mum) and me with Pam & Bob.
Above photo of Pam & Bob in door of train.
Pam waving to us from inside the train.
Can just about make them out!!
Pam & Bob's train to London Euston leaving. So long, farewell and hope to see you again.
Pam & Bob - I love you both dearly very much and hope to see you both in the not too distant future. Love, Karen xxxx

BIT LATE - OUR ARRIVAL IN MANCHESTER (SAT 20 AUG)
Karen took these pictures of us as we came through. Don't think we look too bad considering we'd been on the go for 24 hours!!
MON 5 SEPT - KAREN & HEATHER AT THE ROYAL YACHT BRITANNIA
Whilst Bob and I met up with Margaret, Karen and Heather went to see the Royal Yacht Britannia.
They say they could quite easily get used to that type of luxury.

TUESDAY 13 SEPTEMBER - LEAVING MANCHESTER
We have had the most wonderful time with the family here in Manchester. Karen has just waited on us hand and foot (Karen here - it was a pleasure and an honour) and have decided when we get home this is the manner and custom which I would like from now on - Bob take note!!
Leaving on the 3.35pm train to London where Julie will meet us and we'll be going to her flat for the evening. Then up bright and early tomorrow as we're on the 6.50am train to PARIS - yes I repeat - PARIS, FRANCE. Can't wait for the bus trip round Paris where we can get on and off and do some sightseeing.
Catch up as and when I can
Love

SUN 11 SEPT - OUR 46TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY
We had a lovely family evening with Emily & Ken putting on a lovely buffet. Karen, Debra, Gary & Courtney came along with Heather (our learned friend) and June - who we hadn't caught up with until today.
BRIGADOON & AN ODE TO A TEA ROOM
Sun 4 Sept
The very mention of a tea shop brings a warming to the hear. It becomes a place to meet a friend with promise of cake or tart....
Down the glen and around the corner from Rob Roy's grave, we stumbled on The Library Tea Rooms. A picture postcard!
We sat outside in the sun and Karen & Heather had morning tea & our hot chocolate came in a "tea pot" with a mismatch of china tea cups and saucers. Lisa the owner had decorated the tea rooms with old doillies and tablecloths and memorabilia. The other couple in the photo laughed as I took Lisa and her assistant's photo, so I took one of them as well - that soon shut them up!! It was just darling.
Outside at a table next to us was a chap who had been to Kalgoorlie - couldn't believe it. We gave him Bill's card as he was in mining. This was a magical place for me (and Karen) just loved it.
FRI 9 SEPT - NATIONAL TRUST PROPERTY - DUNHAM PARK
In the morning, Emily took us to her church - St Mary the Virgin of Davyhulme.
Then in the afternoon, Karen took us out for a drive and some fresh air as the sun was shining.
Being members of the NT we got into this park free - Bob loved that!!
The deers were so close you could almost touch them. One of the pics has a cottage which dates back to the 1300s approx. Beautiful gardens and they even had a chuck farm which Bob loved!! Boo hoo - sadly Snow White missed us that much she passed on! No we're not bringing any of the chucks back with us much to Bob's dissapointment.
Even a mill that dates back to Queen Elizabeth I - amazing.
