Saturday 10th Sept. Happy 76th Robert.

SAT 10 SEPT

As I'm waiting for Robert ( not husand ] to help me down load a few video I thought I should just start with today and then go back each day .
This day last week we were in Edinburgh, but today it was overcast as usual and the sun popped out after lunch. We picked up Emily and Ken and headed for the Pennines, the mountain ranges they call the "backbone" of England. Beautiful mountains ranges with winding roads, stark moors with little hamlets dotted across the mountains and valleys..... Images of Wuthering Heights.
Then low and behold a "tea rooms" which would have been an old farm building.
They get snowed in here, so it would be a very harsh life if you were a farmer.
But the "Peak View" tearooms was warm and cosy. Stone fireplace, exposed wooden beams, little window sills with all shapes and size tea pots....we had the most wonderful meal and stayed almost 2 hours, So Bob had a lovely Birthday luncheon. You should have seen what he ate!
Then off to Eyam. a village that cut itself off from the world when the plague came to it's village, out of 360 people 240 perished. Food was delivered outside of the village for them. But these people sacrificed themselves so that no one outside would contact the black death. As we wound ourselves through mountainous roads, miles and miles of it, we wondered how on earth did the plague every reach this part of the world. ........A wool merchant had some cloth delivered to him from London.....fleas were in it....hence it came on the back of a "sheep"
